(District V) FISCAL IMPACT: The General Fund will not receive $75 in revenue. BACKGROUND: Public Works received a request to waive the fee for the New Horizons Community Block Party sponsored by New Horizons Career Development Center for this year's annual event scheduled for Saturday, August 10, 2013. The Annual Community Block Party is organized and sponsored by the New Horizons Career Development Center and it brings out members of the community from Rodeo and the surrounding region to the Rodeo Senior Center which is managed by the Contra Costa County Public Works Department. Event organizers expect over 750 participants. The Community Block Party is the one of Rodeo’s largest community events. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) career wish lists, and to support different Rodeo career development activities. Last year, the Community Block Party drew approximately 750 residents to downtown Rodeo and at least that many are expected this year. New Horizons would like to request use of the Senior Center this year. Since this event is part of the community and brings positive recognition to Rodeo, there is a request to waive the $75.00 fee for use of the Senior Center for the event which will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All necessary permits, insurance, and the facility rental deposit would be provided by the event organizers. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this application fee waiver is not approved, the Community Block Party would not take place on August 10, 2013 at this location.
