SUBJECT: Relief of Shortage In Account of CSA M-17
Montara Bay Community Center
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize relief of accountability of the cash shortage in the total
amount of $240.00 in the account of CSA M-17 Montara Bay Community Center
as recommended by the County Auditor-Controller, District Attorney, and
the Director of Community Development, pursuant to Goverment Code Section
29390.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
On August 12, 1985, staff of the Montara Bay Community Center discovered
a cash shortage of $240.00. The apparent theft was reported to the Sheriff's
Department and an investigation was undertaken. Steps are being taken to
prevent this type of loss in the future. The current alarm system is being
improved, locks are being rekeyed and arranqements have been made for night
bank deposits of cash amounts in excess of $50.00. Staff will continue to
monitor this situation and implement additional precedural safeguards as
appropriate.
