HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08062013 - C.93RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #26-958-11 with Muir Orthopaedic Specialists, a Medical Group, Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $225,000, for the provision of professional orthopedics services for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period August 1, 2013 through July 31, 2016. FISCAL IMPACT: 100% Enterprise I Funds. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services. (No rate increase) BACKGROUND: For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical and Dental Specialists to provide specialized professional services which are not otherwise available in its hospital and health center. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Costa Health Centers including, clinic coverage, on-call, consultation, training, and surgical procedures, through July 31, 2013. Approval of Contract #26-958-11 will allow Contractor to continue to provide orthopedic services, through July 31, 2016. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, patients requiring orthopedic services at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers will not have access to Contractor’s services, which will result in a reduction in the overall level of services to the community.
