APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Agricultural Commissioner, or his designee, to execute agreement #13-0059
Exotic Pest Detection Trapping with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), in an amount not to
exceed $715,916, to provide pest detection services for a term July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This agreement provides reimbursement for County expenses incurred during the period beginning July 1, 2013
through June 30 2014 for pest detection work performed on behalf of the the California Department of food and
Agriculture (CDFA) in Contra Costa County.
BACKGROUND:
The County shall provide services for placing and servicing of traps for the detection of exotic insect pests, which are
considered hazardous to agriculture and the economy of California. The insects may include, but are not limited to the
Mediterranean fruit fly, Mexican fruit fly, Oriental fruit fly, melon fly, gypsy moth, and Japanese beetle. This list is
not inclusive and may contain other invasive exotic pests as identified. This agreement includes delimitation work
associated with the detection of one or more life stages of target pests in the county.
