Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21342 to increase the hours of Pharmacist I position #14377 from 20/40 to
40/40 in the Health Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of approximately $76,709, including pension costs of $18,525,
and will be funded through the Mental Health Services Act.
BACKGROUND:
Currently, this Pharmacist I position is assigned to the Mental Health unit of the Behavioral Health Division and is
responsibile for conducting medication monitoring of mental health medical staff. The increase in position hours
would allow for more comprehensive monitoring of medical staff staff charts in addition to the following duties:
working with Contra Costa Health Plan Staff to address formulary issues; assisting medical staff in obtaining prior
authorizations for medications; working with nursing staff to assure safe storage and record keeping of injectable
medications; providing education on medications/injectables; and preparing and monitoring clinic visits and
conducting inspections for compliance with the State Board of Pharmacy and Department of Health Care Services
regulations.
