HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07162013 - C.77RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, on behalf of the Public Works Director, to donate a
surplus boat to the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District and remove this item from the departmental inventory.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact.
BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa County Sheriff Marine Patrol was contacted by the Bodega Bay Harbor Patrol Chief requesting the
donation of a 1996 Almar Sounder boat, which Marine Patrol was in the process of surplussing. Bodega Bay is
interested in using this boat for harbor patrol functions. This boat was acquired through DMRO (Defense
Reutilization and Marketing Office). The usual process is to return assets acquired through DMRO to them, but due
to the age of the vessel in question, they do not want it back. They advised us to dispose of it in our own manor.
While the boat has been deemed surplus by our Marine Patrol, it would still be a valuable asset to Bodega Bay.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The boat would be sold through Surplus pursuant to current policy.
