HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07162013 - C.42RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with California Department of Public Health, Tuberculosis Control Branch, to pay the County an amount not to exceed $256,563, for the period from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014, for the Tuberculosis Control Program, including incentives to be used for food, shelter, incentives and enablers in the amount not to exceed $14,884, from the total payable amount of $256,563, to be used for food, shelter, incentives and enablers including taxi vouchers and rent subsidies. FISCAL IMPACT: Acceptance of this Award will result in a total of $256,563 from the California Department of Public Health, Tuberculosis Control Branch, for fiscal year 2013-2014. Outreach services are provided to reach the “Hard-to Reach” people with TB and those at high risk. The TB control staff work within the Communicable Disease Section in collaboration with the HIV/AIDS Program, Substance Abuse Programs, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers, and providers throughout the County. Acceptance of this Award #29-393-20 will allow the Department to continue to expand its prevention and control activities which are essential to decreasing TB transmission, prevent the development of drug resistance, and cure TB patients, through June 30, 2014. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this grant is not approved, the County will not receive funds to continue identifying and treating Contra Costa County residents who have active TB and ensure that they complete appropriate therapy.
