BACKGROUND: The Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Advisory Committee was established by the Board of Supervisors in November 2009 to advise the Board regarding the protection and enhancement of public health, County resources, and the environment related to pest control methods employed by County departments. Terms of office for the At Large and Alternate seats reviewed by the Internal Operations Committee are two years. At its July 8 meeting, the IOC interviewed the following five candidates for the Public Member Alternate seat: Terry Davis (Antioch), Doug Freier (Concord), Theresa Halula (Berkeley), Gretchen Salter (Walnut Creek), and Andrew Sutherland (Martinez). A sixth candidate, Nancy White (Martinez) was unable to attend the interview. As a result of the interviews, the IOC nominates Doug Freier for appointment to the vacant seat to complete the unexpired term ending December 31, 2013.
