APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner, a purchase order
with Spike's Produce in an amount not to exceed $300,000 to provide food products for the preparation of inmate
meals in the three County adult detention facilities for the period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$300,000 maximum. 100% County General Fund; Budgeted FY 13/14.
BACKGROUND:
Spike's Produce is a locally owned and operated small business that provides low-cost produce to all three adult
detention facilities. These deliveries occur in the early morning, making it essential to have a low-cost, local solution.
This blanket purchase order will ensure timely delivery of essential food products for meals served at adult detention
facilities.
