HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07092013 - C.28RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE Appropriations and Revenue Adjustment No. 5097 authorizing new revenue in the amount of $200,000 from the State of California (AB109 Public Safety Realignment) and appropriating it to the FY 2012/13 Probation Department budget for planning and training costs. FISCAL IMPACT: This action increases revenue and expenditures by $200,000. The new revenue is a result of the AB109 State realignment. There is no increase in net county cost. BACKGROUND: The California Legislature passed the Public Safety Realignment Act (Assembly Bill 109), which transfers responsibility for supervising specific low-level inmates and parolees from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) to counties. Assembly Bill 109 (AB 109) took effect October 1, 2011. As part of the State's FY 12-13 budget, Contra Costa County's CCP was allocated $200,000 in one-time revenue to cover planning and training costs. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The new revenue and associated expenditures will not be properly recognized in the department operating budget.
