Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
#26-830-32 with Paul Reif, M.D., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $200,000, for the provision
of professional gastroenterology services for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa
Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from June 1, 2013 through May 31, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise I Funds. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate,
patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
On June 8, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-830-30 (as amended by Contract Amendment
Agreement #26-830-31) with Paul Reif, M.D., for the period from June 1, 2010 through May 31, 2013 for the
provision of gastroenterology services at CCRMC including,

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
but not limited to, consultation, clinic coverage, training, on-call services and medical procedures.
Approval of Contract #26-830-32 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide gastroenterology services to
patients at CCRMC, through May 31, 2014.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If contract is not approved, County’s clients will not have access to Contractor’s professional gastroenterology
services, reducing overall levels of service to the community.
