Subject:Contract extension with Mass Mutual to Continue Employee Deferred Compensation Plan
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
On April 9, 2013, a board order providing the additional information was considered. After additional public
comment, the Board of Supervisors directed that the contract with the current provider, Mass Mutual, acting as agent
for The Hartford Life Insurance Company, be extended for an additional six month period, from July 1, 2013 to
December 31, 2013, to provide an opportunity for the Board of Supervisors to complete their additional review and
to allow more time to complete the meet and confer process with interested bargaining units.
This board order is seeking authorization for the Director of Human Resources to execute that six month extension
with Mass Mutual. This is an extension of the contract period only. No other changes are being made to the existing
contract.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
As of July 1, 2013, the Contra Costa County Deferred Compensation Plan would not have a Plan Administrator.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
Not Applicable.
