Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
#26-601-5 with Landrus Pfeffinger, M.D., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $125,000, to
provide orthopedic physician services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Centers and Contra Costa Health Centers for
the period from June 1, 2013 through May 31, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. Costs depend upon utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or
third party payors will be billed for services. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
On May 17, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-601-3 with Landrus Pfeffinger, M.D., to provide
orthopedic services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from
June 1, 2011 through May 31, 2013.
Approval of Contract #26-601-5 will allow the Contractor to continue providing orthopedic services through May 31,
2015.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, patients requiring orthopedic services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and
Contra Costa Health Centers will not have access to Contractor’s services, which will result in a reduction in the
overall levels of services to the community.
