HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06252013 - C.88RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute a purchase order on behalf of the Public Defender with Dell, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $106,005 for the purchase of replacement computer workstations in the Public Defender's Office. FISCAL IMPACT: $106,005, 100% General Fund. $100,000 of the proposed expenditure from County Venture Capital Program award for fiscal year 2012/13. BACKGROUND: The department has not refreshed the desktop computer and monitor platform in close to five fiscal cycles. The current platform is out of warranty, and has reached the end of its useful life by industry standards. Traditionally, the department has operated with a computer hardware funding level of $20,000 per fiscal year, or roughly 0.001% of the department budget. While maintaining other hardware needs within the department, there has not been an opportunity to complete a department wide upgrade. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The negative impact will be that our Department will be unable to provide the inhancements needed for our computer system so that we can provide better service to our clients.
