HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06252013 - C.59RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Department, or designee, on behalf of the Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa, to execute an agreement with the State of California Employment Development Department to accept Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Formula Funds, Subgrant K491013, in an amount not to exceed $1,948,519 for WIA youth services from April 1, 2013 through June 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: County to receive $1,948,519 for Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Formula finding. No County match. BACKGROUND: The U. S. Department of Labor, Workforce Investment Act (WIA) grants funding by formula to states for distribution to local Workforce Investment Act boards to fund employment-related services, including allocation(s) for youth employment and occupational training. The funds received through the California Employment Development Department subgrant will be used to fund a variety of employment, educational activities, occupational training, and supportive services for eligible youth in Contra Costa County.
