HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06252013 - C.47RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21309 to add one (1) full-time Public Defender Client Services Specialist (26SC) (represented) position at salary plan and grade QY5 1502 ($4,686.85 - $5,696.89) in the Public Defender's Office. FISCAL IMPACT: This action will result in an annual cost of $82,242.20 to our S/B budget. BACKGROUND: The Public Defender Client Services Specialist classification has been a part of our department since 1986. With the changes brought about by Public Safety Realignment, we need to reinstate this classification to the Department and fill it with an employee who is qualified to perform all of the duties the position requires. Specifically, the Public Defender Client Services Specialist conducts psychological and social risk and needs assessments of Public Defender juvenile and adult clients, and assists with finding appropriate treatment options for clients suffering from drug/alcohol addiction and/or mentally impaired clients. The Client Services Specialist works closely with the Deputy Public Defenders to assist with providing services to adults and Juvenile clients. The information that the Public Degender Client Services Specialist provides to the attorneys is instrumental in obtaining appropriate case outcomes so as to reduce recidivism. This position requires that the Public Defender Client Services Specialist must stay abreast of the referral procedures/policy and all new services that are available in the County and as well as the State to enable us to provide services that will best fit our client’s needs.
