ATTESTED: June 4, 2013 David Twa, BY:June McHuen , Deputy RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the District Attorney, or designee, to execute a contract with the Housing Authority of Contra Costa County in an amount not to exceed $95,000 to fund an investigator from the District Attorney's office to investigate suspected housing fraud cases for the period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: The District Attorney will receive $95,000 in revenue for the period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 that was budgeted in fiscal year 2013/14. FISCAL IMPACT: (CONT'D) BACKGROUND: In order to enhance the Housing Authority's efforts to reduce fraud in the Section 8 and Public Housing Programs, they have entered into an Inter-agency Agreement with the District Attorney’s office to provide investigative services for suspected housing fraud cases. An Investigator from the District Attorney’s Office has been assigned four days per week to work for Housing Authority investigating these cases. The existing contract with the Housing Authority for these services expires on June 30, 2013, and both parties wish to execute a new agreement for fiscal year 2013/14. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The District Attorney's Office will not be reimbursed for services rendered to the Housing Authority of Contra Costa County. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: No impact.
