HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06042013 - C.38RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE a Library Lease and Service Agreement with the City of Antioch, enabling the County to operate the Antioch – Prewett Library located at 4703 Lone Tree Way, Antioch. The Lease is for a term beginning January 29, 2011 and ending June 30, 2013, when a new one-year term will automatically renew unless otherwise terminated. (WLP709) AUTHORIZE the County Librarian, or designee, to execute the Library Lease and Service Agreement on behalf of the County. FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact. In exchange for the use of the Library premises, the County will perform library services and related activities at the Library during each term. The City will pay for and provide all maintenance, utilities, and janitorial services to the Library. No rent is due or payable from the County. Bueren, Public Works Director/Chief Engineer Date:June 4, 2013 Contra Costa County Subject:Library Lease and Service Agreement for 4703 Lone Tree Way, Antioch BACKGROUND: In 2011, the City of Antioch built the Antioch Community Center where they included space for the County to operate the Antioch – Prewett Library. In exchange for the use of the Library premises, the County will perform library services and related activities at the Library during each term. The City will pay for and provide all maintenance, utilities, and janitorial services to the Library. No rent is due or payable from the County. The Library Lease and Service Agreement provides that the term will automatically renew on a yearly basis unless written notice is given by either party of their intent to terminate the Lease at least one year in advance. As a condition of the lease, the City and County requires mutual indemnity. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to approve the Library Lease and Service Agreement may reduce library services in the City of Antioch. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
