APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa
(HACCC), or designee, to execute a contract with Contra Costa County in an amount not to exceed $449,000 to allow
the Sheriff to provide HACCC’s Bayo Vista (Rodeo) and Las Deltas (North Richmond) public housing developments
with additional law enforcement services for the period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
BACKGROUND
For the past twenty-one years, HACCC has contracted with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department to provide
two full-time Sheriff Deputies for additional community-oriented policing duties at the Bayo Vista and Las Deltas
Housing Developments. The Deputies focus on deterring drug-related activities, eliminating violent crimes, and
working closely with residents to provide services beyond those normally offered by the Sheriff’s office.
Law enforcement services that are targeted at public housing developments are an allowable budget item under HUD
guidelines.
