Uilkema House in memory of the late District II Supervisor Gayle B. Uilkema, a former member of the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors as recommended by the Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board, Support4Recovery, and the Behavioral Health Division. FISCAL IMPACT: None. BACKGROUND: The County Homeless program received funding through the State of CA Emergency Housing Assistance Program, Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, and County Health Services Dept. to support the conversation of 4639 Pacheco Blvd. in Martinez (former site of Discovery House) for sober living, transitional housing for the homeless. The program will provide housing for up 12 individuals for up to two years, goal-oriented counseling, and recovery support to homeless individuals recently graduated from residential and/or outpatient drug treatment so that they may obtain the skills and resources necessary to maintain sobriety and transition back safely into the community. Uilkema who died on May 19, 2012. Supervisor Uilkema was a tireless advocate for the needs of residents who suffer from substance use disorders. Naming the new facility Gayle B.
