HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05212013 - C.59RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Forensic Medical Group to extend the term from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 and increase the payment limit by $532,000.00 to a new payment limit of $4,032,000, to provide forensic pathology services. FISCAL IMPACT: 100% County General Fund; $4,032,000. Budgeted. BACKGROUND: Forensic Medical Group (FMG) is a California Professional Corporation that specializes in pathology and forensic pathology. The Contractor will assume responsibility for and perform autopsy services for all deaths that fall within the jurisdiction of the Coroner, will prepare as required documents and reports, provide training to personnel, provide court testimony as required, and ensure that quality standards are met for the services performed. This action is to amend the contract with FMG for one year at the previously contracted rates. This will allow the Sheriff-Coroner’s Office to continue to meet the obligations to provide forensic pathology services.
