HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05212013 - C.55RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the Chief Information Officer, a purchase order with Motorola, in an amount not to exceed $380,000 for the acquisition of an interoperable radio system. FISCAL IMPACT: $329,593 is funded by State of California Department of Water Resources grant funds awarded to the Sheriff-Coroner and the balance of $50,407 is funded by BAYWEB Org# 4273. BACKGROUND: On January 22, 2013 under Consent Item C.24, the Board approved an agreement for the Sheriff-Coroner to accept grant funds from the State of California Department of Water Resources for the development of a region specific Interoperability Communications Plan. The grant funds are to be used to develop and implement a plan that supports communication between emergency response agencies. This plan includes the purchase and installation of microwave link equipment. This purchase order facilitates the purchase and installation of the equipment. The County Administrator’s Office has reviewed this request and recommends approval. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this purchase is not approved, the County will lose funds awarded from the State of California Department of Water Resources to develop and implement a Delta region specific Interoperablity Communication Plan that supports communication between emergency response agencies.
