HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05212013 - C.33RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE a First Amendment to Lease with the City of Pittsburg, for a five-year term, for continued use of an approximately 16,000 square foot training facility for the Sheriff-Coroner’s Law Enforcement Training Center located at 340 Marina Boulevard, Pittsburg, by the Sheriff-Coroner at a rent of $6,060 per month, under the terms and conditions set forth in the First Amendment to Lease. (WLP772) AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to EXECUTE the First Amendment to Lease on behalf of the County. FISCAL IMPACT: The First Amendment to Lease will obligate the County to pay a total rent of $441,108 during the five-year term. The First Amendment to Lease was anticipated and budgeted in the Sheriff-Coroner’s approved 2012/2013 budget. Bueren, Public Works Director/Chief Engineer Date:May 21, 2013 Contra Costa County Subject:340 Marina Boulevard, Pittsburg – First Amendment to Lease for the Sheriff-Coroner BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) to Lease will provide for the continued use of a training facility, owned by the City of Pittsburg, for the Sheriff-Coroner’s Law Enforcement Training Center. The training facility will be used for the Sheriff’s basic academy, advanced officer training, and as a regional training center for in-service training courses as requested by the Sheriff-Coroner. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Not authorizing the First Amendment to Lease for the continued operation of the Sheriff-Coroner’s Law Enforcement Training Center at this location would require finding another suitable location at significantly increased rent, together with the associated expenses for moving and constructing new tenant improvements.
