HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05212013 - C.21RECOMMENDATION(S): Appoint the following person to the District II Family Member Seat of the Contra Costa County Mental Health Commission for the remainder of a three-year term, with an expiration date of June 30, 2015, as recommended by Supervisor Candace Andersen: Lauren Rettagliata Danville, CA 94526. FISCAL IMPACT: NONE. BACKGROUND: The Contra Costa County Mental Health Commission was established by order of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors on June 22, 1993, pursuant to the Welfare & Institutions Code 5604, also known as the Bronzan-McCorquodale Act, Stats. 1992, c. 1374 (A.B. 14). The primary purpose of the Commission is to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors and to the Mental Health Division and its staff. Commissioners are appointed by members of the County Board of Supervisors from each of the five districts for a term of three years. Each district has a consumer of mental health services, family member and an at-large representative on the Commission, for a total of 15 members plus a representative and alternate from the Board of Supervisors. The vacancy was advertised through a variety of sources, applications were accepted and reviewed by the Mental Health Commission and by Supervisor Andersen. Supervisor Andersen and the Mental Health Commission feel Ms. Rettagliata is highly qualified and a valuable addition to the Commission. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The District II Family Member Seat will remain vacant. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: NONE.
