By: Arthur W. Walenta, Assistant County Counsel CJIJJIa
DATE: September. 2 , 1986 County
SUBJECT: Doyle v. board of Supervisors V
Superior Court No. 285516
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
County Counsel recommends that the Board of Supervisors authorize a protec-
tive appeal of the order for peremptory writ of mandate and the writ of mandate
in the above-entitled action. The Doyle case is a dispute between the plain-
tiffs and the State concerning the law governing composition of the Private
Industry Council. The County defendants have disclaimed any interest in the
case but the State has appealed the Superior Court decision and an appeal by the
County defendants is required to assure that the judgment on appeal governs the
County as well as the State.
