APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with
the Regents of the University of California, Davis, in an amount not to exceed $323,500, and authorize a mutual
indemnification clause in the contract, to provide Child Welfare, Eligibility, and Community Service Training for the
period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$323,500: 16% State; 84% Federal (CFDA# 93.658, Department of Health and Human Services #93.778;
Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service #10.561; Head Start; CFDA #93.558; Temporary Assistance
for Needy Families)
BACKGROUND:
Training provided by the University of California (UC) Davis to Employment and Human Services Department
(EHSD) meets State regulations that allow public institutions of

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
higher education to provide in-kind match funding equal to the California Welfare Department's share of costs,
resulting in no expense to the County, and a higher skilled, more informed staff.
The Regents of the University of California, Davis, require the inclusion of a mutual indemnification clause in this
agreement.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
EHSD will be unable to provide staff training necessary to ensure knowledgeable, professional staff.
