HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05142013 - C.28RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Standard Agreement #28-300-4 (12-89320) with the California Department of Health Care Services, to pay the County an amount not to exceed $10,500,000, for the Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA) Program, for the period from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: This Agreement will result in an amount not to exceed $10,500,000 from the California Department of Health Care Services to fund the MAA Program. No County match required. BACKGROUND: The California Department of Health Care Services is responsible for administering the California MAA Program which is authorized by Title 42, United States Code Section 1396 and Welfare and Institutions Code Division 9, Part 3, Chapter 7 (commencing with Section 14000) and Chapter 8 (commencing with Section 14200). The goal of this agreement is to ensure that Contra Costa County Medi-Cal potentially eligible individuals and their families are appropriately informed of the Medi-Cal Program, how to access it and assisted in accessing the Medi-Cal Program. Approval of this Standard Agreement #28-300-4 will allow continuous funding to the County’s Health Services Department for the MAA Program, including agreeing to indemnify and hold the grantor harmless for claims arising out of the County’s performance under the agreement through June 30, 2015. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Agreement is not approved, the County will not receive funds to continue supporting the MAA Program. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
