APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Librarian, or designee, to apply for and accept a grant in the amount of $1,000
from the Pleasant Hill Community Foundation to purchase books for library collections for the period July 1, 2013
through June 30, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No Library Fund match.
BACKGROUND:
Pleasant Hill adults look to the library as a source of information for lifelong learning. A community study conducted
as part of the Library’s strategic plan revealed that Pleasant Hill residents view reading as a desirable recreational
activity and a critical factor for success in life. The Pleasant Hill Library will use funds from the Pleasant Hill
Community Foundation Grant to purchase approximately 50 adult non-fiction books on high interest topics such as
mathematics, computing, gardening, cooking, travel, and language learning.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The library will not purchase the proposed materials.

None.
