HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05072013 - C.50RECOMMENDATION(S): AUTHORIZE the Auditor-Controller, on behalf of Employment and Human Services Department, to pay Embassy Suites Hotels Walnut Creek an amount not to exceed $12,000 for Heritage Project, Options for Recovery Program Breaking Barriers Training event scheduled to be held May 13, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: $12,000: 7.5% County, 17.5% State, 75% Federal BACKGROUND: County receives an allocation from the California Department of Social Services for the Heritage Project, Options for Recovery Program. One of the services required for the funding is staff cross-training. The cross-training is for foster parents, community partners, Alcohol and Drug service providers, mental health providers and staff. The goals and objectives of the cross training are: to educate, to increase collaboration between alcohol and drug treatment providers and social workers, to decrease barriers that prevent agencies from working collaboratively, to assist families and staff in creating practical solutions for change, and case conferencing and collaboration. Embassy Suites Hotels has requested Board of Supervisors approval in advance of the event. Provision of food and beverage during the event is allowable under the Heritage Project funding guidelines and will be consistent with County Administrative Bulletin No. 614, paragraph IV. B. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Funding requirement for Heritage Project specialized training would not be provided. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable
