Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Marilyn Underwood), to submit Application
#28-511-27 (EA24) to the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), to pay County
an amount not to exceed $50,000, for the continuation of the Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) assistance program
for the Department's Environmental Health Division (Solid Waste Program), for the period July 1, 2013 through June
30, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this application will result in a projected amount not to exceed $50,000 of funding for the Department's
Solid Waste Program. 100% Sate. No County match required.
BACKGROUND:
The CalRecycle provides these grants annually to assist Statewide Local Enforcement Agencies (LEA) in performing
their duties. Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 43230, this grant award will be used solely for the support of
the solid waste facilities permit and inspection programs, including personnel, training, equipment, supplies, and
technical support.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Approval of application #28-511-27 will allow County to apply to receive funds for continuation of the LEA
assistance program, through June 30, 2014.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this application is not approved, the County will not be able to receive funds to carry out its solid waste facilities
permit and inspection programs.
