Board members discussed the various reports they had received and the various cures that had been suggested to mitigate the delays experienced when crossing the bridge, including the need for additional lanes, asking CALTRANS to limit truck traffic to the right hand lane only, eliminating truck passing, supporting 3 hours free on Friday in exchange for raising the toll to 50 cents, car pool lanes free during commute hours, park and ride lots on the Benicia side of the Bridge and expanding the approach lanes on 680 . Supervisor McPeak inquired if it could be ascertained how much of the traffic is from out of the area and how much is local commute, particularly on Friday afternoons. . Board members discussed the matter in some detail and determined that the problem is regional and would have be solved regionally, and the solution would have to include the growth occuring in Solano County. IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the Cities in Contra Costa County are REQUESTED to comment on the EIR regional impacts in pro- posed developments within their jurisdictions. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the County General Plan Review Citizens Advisory Committee, which has representatives from Solano and Alameda Counties, is REQUESTED to discuss mutual regional con- cerns with respect to traffic impacts including EIR reports on deve- lopment projects in those adjacent counties.
