Research shows that early and positive experiences with books set the stage for a child’s success in learning to read.
The availability of books from an early age is critical to that success and growing up with books creates a life-long
love of reading. Therefore,
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: (CONT'D)
public libraries play an important role in a community. They equalize access to books, making sure all families are
able to help their child’s enjoy reading from an early age. An attractive children’s collection at the Crockett Library,
with a larger selection of materials, will draw more families to the library and encourage regular exposure to reading
and books.
