HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05072013 - C.02RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Public Works Director, to execute a purchase order with Ennis Paint, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $525,000, for traffic paint, thermoplastic pavement coatings, raised pavement markers and marker adhesive, for the period May 1, 2013 through April 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: 100% Local Road Funds. BACKGROUND: The traffic paint, markings and raised pavement markers are used on all County roads for lane delineation, markings for crosswalks, schools, pedestrians and railroad crossings. The paint and markings are primarily used for maintenance by County crews on County roads and facilities. This is for the safety of the public and required by the Cal-MUTCD (California Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices). CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Without this purchase order, we will not have materials to maintain traffic striping and messages which can create an unsafe situation for all motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
