Subject:REQUEST FROM BETHEL ISLAND MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT FOR PARK DEDICATION
FUNDS TO FINANCE IMPROVEMENTS TO BETHEL ISLAND COMMUNITY PARK
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
In 2003, park dedication funds were used to help BIMID purchase the land for the park, and in 2005 park dedication
funds were used to finance the drilling of a well on the site to ensure the park has access to a reliable water source.
It is the policy of the County to use County park dedication funds to meet local and regional park needs. The proposed
improvement is consistent with that policy, and staff recommends approval of BIMID's request. If approved, the
balance in the Bethel Island park dedication account will be $0.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without the allocation of Park Dedication Funds, the District would need to find other financing to help pay for the
proposed improvement to the park.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The project supports the following community outcome established in the Children's Report Card: Communities that
are safe and provide a high quality of life for children and families.
