ATTESTED: April 9, 2013 David J. Twa, BY:June McHuen , Deputy RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute the following: 1. Change Order to Blanket Purchase Order F43342 with Praxair, Inc., to add $25,000 for a new total of $124,900, for the purchase of oxygen and medical gases at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from June 1, 2012 through May 31, 2013; and 2. Purchase Order with Praxair, Inc., in the amount of $130,000 for the purchase of oxygen and medical gases at CCRMC, for the period from June 1, 2013 through May 31, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: 100% Enterprise Fund I. BACKGROUND: Praxair, Inc. is a supplier of oxygen and other medical gases to CCRMC. The Contractor’s total gas management service provides inventories, stocks, and delivers the medical gas needs to each unit at CCRMC. Due to safety requirements of the Joint Commission, CCRMC has had to buy storage racks for all oxygen cylinders this contract year. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Purchase Order is not approved, CCRMC would not be able to pay for supplies of medical gas cylinders for the medical needs of patients in Contra Costa County.
