HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04092013 - C.88RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order with Olympus America, Inc. in the amount of $276,000, for a four year period effective the date the Purchase Order is issued, for service and repair of gastro intestinal flexible endoscopes at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC). FISCAL IMPACT: 100% Enterprise Fund I. BACKGROUND: CCRMC has flexible endoscopes which are expensive to purchase, repair, and maintain. CCRMC enters into a fully capitated maintenance contract with the manufacturer, Olympus America, Inc. to reduce thehigh cost of repair to these devices. The time period for the Purchase Order will be determined by the datethe Purchase Order is actually issued in order to get maximum benefit from it. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Purchase Order is not approved repair and replacement costs for gastro intestinal flexible endoscopeswill be greatly increased. The purchase price of flexible endoscopes usually totals $15,000-$30,000. Repair costs often total ½ of the original purchase price of the scopes. With relatively frequent repairs required these endoscopes are expensive to maintain. This capped contract helps keep the repair costs down and provides quality repairs.
