HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04092013 - C.87RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #27–633–9 with Perform Rx, LLC, a limited liability company, in an amount not to exceed $42,000,000, to provide pharmacy administration services for the Contra Costa Health Plan, for the period from May 1, 2013 through April 30, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 100% by Contra Costa Health Plan Member Premiums. Actual costs will depend upon usage. (No rate increase) BACKGROUND: Both the State Department of Health Services and the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) require a Pharmacy Benefits Manger that can develop, maintain, and manage a large pharmacy network and monitor the correct dispensing of drug benefits, co-pays under multiple group product lines adhering to the required Health Plan Formulary and Health Plan Prior authorization protocol. ATTESTED: April 9, 2013 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: June McHuen, Deputy cc: Tasha Scott, D Gary C. 87 To:Board of Supervisors From:William Walker, M.D. Date:April 9, 2013 Contra Costa County Subject:Contract #27–633–9 with Perform Rx, LLC BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Agreements #26-633-5 through #27-633-8) with AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan, dba AmeriHealth Mercy Contractor, for provision of pharmacy administration services for Contra Costa Health Plan members, including providing drug utilization review and management, prior authorization procedures, account management, member pharmacy call center, analysis and reporting services and developing partnerships with prescribers and pharmacies, for the period from May 1, 2009 through April 30, 2013. Effective January 1, 2010, the Contract was assigned by AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan, dba AmeriHealth Mercy Contractor, to Perform Rx, LLC. Approval of Contract #27–633–9 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through April 30, 2014. In accordance with the terms of the agreement, County and Contractor agree to a mutual indemnification clause to hold each other harmless for any claims arising out of the performance of this contract. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Contract is not approved, Health Plan members will not have access to pharmacy benefits as required by existing State and Federal contracts.
