Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
Amendment Agreement #26-338-16 with American Red Cross Blood Services, a Non-Profit Corporation, effective
February 15, 2013, to amend Contract #26-338-13 (as amended by Contract Amendments Agreements #26-338-14
and #26-33-15), to increase the total payment limit by $91,972 from $1,415,710 to a new total payment limit of
$1,507,682, with no change in the original term of the Agreement from January 1, 2010 through March 31, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This amendment is 100% funded by Enterprise I Funds. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate,
patients and/or third-party payors will be billed for services. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
On March 3, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved, and on April 27, 2010 corrected, Contract #26-338-13 (as
amended by subsequent Amendment Agreements #26-338-14 and #26-338-15) with American Red Cross Blood
Services, for the period from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2012, to provide total blood and blood
component products and associated services as needed for

patients at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center.
Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-338-15 will allow Contractor to provide additional blood
testing/screening services and through March 31, 2013.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this amendment is not approved, the County will not be able to pay Contractor for additional services to provide
blood services and products to the needs of Contra Costa County Medical Center.
