HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03192013 - C.55RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #74-271-19(7) with Ena Rios, LCSW, a self-employed individual, effective December 1, 2012, to amend Contract #74-271-19(6), to increase the payment limit by $70,000, from $60,000 to a new payment limit of $130,000, with no change in the original term of July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 100% by Medi-Cal Funds, offset 50% State and 50% Federal. (No rate increase) BACKGROUND: In October 2012, the County Administrator approved and Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract #74-271-19(6), with Ena Rios, LCSW, for the period from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2014, to provide Medi-Cal specialty mental health services. At the time of negotiations, the payment limit was based on target levels of utilization. However, the utilization during the term of the agreement was higher than originally anticipated. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this amendment is not approved, mental health services to monolingual Spanish-speaking Medi-Cal beneficiaries in the eastern region of the county will be underserved.
