HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03192013 - C.47RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #26-294-30 with Staff Care, Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $1,300,000, to provide temporary physician services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I included in the Health Services Departments Budget. As appropriate, patients and/or third-party payors will be billed for services. (No rate increase) BACKGROUND: For many years, the County has contracted with registries to provide temporary qualified personnel to assist the Department during peak workloads, temporary absences and emergency situations. Approval of Contract #26-294-30 will allow the Contractor to continue providing temporary physician services, through December 31, 2013, including a modification to County’s General Conditional Paragraph 18. (Indemnification) related to locum tenens physicians not being indemnified by Contractor. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, Contra Costa Regional Medical Centers would not have appropriate physician coverage during temporary staff absences, therefore, patients would go untreated CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not Applicable.
