Subject:2010 - 2013 Calif. Dept. of Educ. Facilities Renovation agreement amendment #3
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
renovations and repairs. The State has awarded $249,000 to be used during the budget period of July 1, 2010 through
June 30, 2013 for facility renovations. On June 28, 2011 the Board approved an amendment to accepts budget line
item swap between the installation of heating/cooling systems at two childcare centers. The cost for one center went
down by $50,000 while the cost of the system installation at another center was increased by $50,000. On August 14,
2012 the Board approved an amendment to adjust budget line items, with no change to the payment limit. The line
item adjustment was due to the increased costs of installing an HVAC system in the centers.
This amendment seeks to take budget savings from the other facility renovations to apply to projects at George Miller
Center in Concord and Las Deltas Center in Richmond. The project at George Miller is to complete playground
repairs and surveillance system improvements; the project at Las Deltas it to complete surveillance system
improvements.
Approval of this agreement will allow the Department to complete facility renovations at various County operated
facilities.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If not approved, funds will not be encumbered to complete facility repair projects.
