HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03192013 - C.44RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to submit, on behalf of the County, funding Application #28-357 to the Bay Area Urban Areas Security Initiative, in an amount not to exceed $120,441, for County’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Medical Emergency and Disaster Ambulance Radio System project, for the period from December 1, 2013 through November 30, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: Acceptance of this application will result in an amount not to exceed $120,441 for the EMS Medical Emergency and Disaster Ambulance Radio System project through November 30, 2014. No County match required. BACKGROUND: Contra Costa Contra and Alameda Counties have been implementing East Bay Regional Communication System (EBRCS) interoperable communication upgrades over the past 18 months and are in various stages of completion. Contra Costa EMS currently utilizes the medical emergency and disaster ambulance radio system (MEDARS) for field ambulance-to-hospital communications. In the near future, MEDARS is scheduled to sunset as part of the planned migration to EBRCS. Approval of submission will allow the County’s EMS to apply for funding for County’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS), to implement the Medical Emergency and Disaster Ambulance Radio System project, for the period from December 1, 2013 through November 30, 2014. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Application is not approved, the County will not receive funding to support and participate in the (EMS) Medical Emergency and Disaster Ambulance Radio System in Contra Costa County.
