HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03192013 - C.12RECOMMENDATION(S): AUTHORIZE the County Administrator to sign a license agreement with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and AUTHORIZE payment of the Schedule A license fee in the amount of $327 for the 2013 Alamo Summer Concert Series, Alamo area. (District II) Project No.: 7758-6X5032 (opt ACS) FISCAL IMPACT: 100% County Service Area R-7A funds. BACKGROUND: Special Districts works with the Alamo Municipal Advisory Committee, on behalf of the Alamo Parks and Recreation County Service Area (CSA) R-7A, to provide a Summer Concert Series at Livorna Park in Alamo. On February 20, 2013 Special Districts staff received notification from ASCAP that an annual license agreement (attachment #1) needs to be signed and the related fee (attachment #2) needs to be paid each year for the concert series. This license agreement and related fee ensures compliance with the copyright law while recognizing the rights of ASCAP’s composers, authors, and publishers. On February 28, 2013, ASCAP staff sent the attached invoice for the $327 fee for the Alamo summer concerts, per Schedule A of the license agreement. There are no “special events license fees” because the summer concerts at Livorna generate no gross revenue.
