Subject:Amend Previous Authorization to Allocate Park Dedication Funds for the Walden Green Project
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
of $500,000 in Park Dedication funds to the County's Redevelopment Agency to help finance the development of
the Walden Green project located along the Iron Horse Corridor in the unincorporated Contra Costa Centre area
(Attachment A). On February 1, 2012, the Redevelopment Agency was dissolved and the Board became its
Successor Agency pursuant to the Redevelopment Dissolution Act. Consequently, the Successor Agency staff
recommends that these park dedication funds be allocated directly to the Department of Public Works who is
managing construction of the project. The project is approximately 75 percent complete and is expected to be
finished by Summer 2013.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
By not changing the recipient of the Park Dedication Funds from the Successor Agency to the County's Public
Works Department, the Auditor-Controller would not be able to transfer the funds, which may threaten completion
of the project.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
Not applicable.
