County
Subject:Quitclaim Deed for relinquishment of access rights across Real Property identified as 2555 Harbor St. to City of
Pittsburg
BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors as the Board of Directors of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection
District (District) approved the conveyance of (the Property), former District Fire Station 85 to the City on
November 8, 2011. The Grant Deed reserved an access easement over the entire Property to the County. And
prior to the City accepting and recording the Grant Deed it requested that the County only maintain access rights
across the northerly portion of the Property.
The City recorded the Grant Deed on June 21, 2012 with the understanding that the County would quitclaim its
rights to the access easement over the entire Property but reserve out an access easement over the northerly 43.50
feet of the Property. This portion of the access easement being conveyed to the City is not necessary for the
County's purposes. The County will be able to continue to access its communications tower and equipment via the
northerly 43.5 feet of the Property.
A Notice of Exemption was filed and posted on June 12, 2003 [DCD - CP #03-12]
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The County will continue to have access rights across the entire property rather than a defined area as the City
prefers.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
Not applicable.
