Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a change order
to Purchase Order #37962 with McKesson Corporation, to add additional funds in the amount of $300,000 for a new
total of $2,300,000, for the purchase of pharmaceuticals designated as 340B replenishment inventories dispensed
through Rite Aid pharmacies and City Center Pharmacy located within Contra Costa County through June 30, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This contract is budgeted and funded in the Enterprise Fund II and III and is cost neutral. The Program with local Rite
Aid pharmacies and City Center pharmacy will allow the Plan to maximize savings under the 340B program.
BACKGROUND:
This Contract meets the needs of County’s population by providing prescription medications to Contra Costa Health
Plan (CCHP) members at a significantly reduced price structure governed by the Office of Pharmacy Affairs (OPA).
CCHP has entered into a special 340B pharmacy program, with the Federal government’s OPA approval, to contract
with local Rite Aid pharmacies and City Center pharmacy in the 340B program.

Approval of Purchase Order #37962, will allow McKesson Corp. to continue providing services through June 30,
2013.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Purchase Order is not approved, the county will pay a higher rate for pharmacy claims from Rite Aid and City
Center. Currently 340B savings are approximately 50-60% lower than traditional pharmacy reimbursement.
