Weir, Clerk Recorder Date:March 12, 2013 Contra Costa County Subject:Cancel two Network Administrator I, add two ISS II positions in the Clerk-Recorder-Elections department BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) and website management, GIS, etc.) The Information Systems Specialist classification has specifications that meet the needs of the department. The County's Chief Information Officer has been consulted and concurs with these actions. The Clerk-Recorder Services positions are part of our long term reorganization plan to create an improved classification structure. As positions become vacant, they are reclassified to the new Clerk-Recorder Services classification structure. Two long term employees recently retired and vacated their positions. The new classifications are able to perform the technical duties in both areas of the Clerk-Recorder Division (Clerk Unit and Recording Unit). Prior to the reorganization, staff were either assigned to one or the other unit. Now they can be cross-trained to perform both, which increases efficiency and provides better customer service. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Positions will not be appropriately classified for the needs of the Clerk-Recorder-Elections Department. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: No impact.
