HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03122013 - C.25RECOMMENDATION(S): INTRODUCE Ordinance No. 2013-04 amending Section 33-5.313 of the County Ordinance Code to Exempt from the Merit System the classification of Chief Nursing Officer-Exempt, waive the reading, and fix March 19, 2013 for adoption. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no cost associated with this action. BACKGROUND: The Chief Nursing Officer - Exempt classification was originally established in 1984; revised and retitled in 2005; and later retitled again in 2009 as a result of a change in the organizational structure of Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers. During that time, the Chief Operations Officer of CCRMC held the dual role of Chief Nursing Officer. In 2010, the Department was notified that per Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR) regulating the Community Care Licensing Division, it is a requirement as a public hospital to have a designated Chief Nursing Officer position. For the past two years, the Director of Inpatient Nursing Services has been assuming the role and responsibilities of the Chief Nursing Officer. In order for the Department to be in compliance with CCR Title 22 and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) standards, we need to re-establish a dedicated Chief Nursing Officer position.
