ACCEPT report on the Orinda Senior Housing Groundbreaking.
BACKGROUND
On May 15, 2012 the Board of Commissioners approved the award of 208 project-based vouchers to six different
projects throughout Contra Costa County. On January 25, 2013, ground was broken for the second of these projects,
Eden Housing's Orinda Senior Apartments. This project will provide 67 affordable rental homes to low-income
seniors and is slated to be completed in June, 2014. Amenities at Orinda Senior Apartments will include an on-site
management office, a large community room with a full kitchen, an exercise room, a library/computer center, laundry
facilities and a courtyard with a barbecue area and community garden. The Housing Authority's thirty-year
commitment of project-based vouchers to the Orinda Senior project is worth about $45 million in subsidies and rents.

Senior will be affordable to senior households earning at or
below thirty percent to fifty percent of the Contra Costa County
Area Median Income, and residents will pay thirty percent of
their household income for rent.
Amenities at Orinda Senior will include on-site management
offices, a large community room with a full kitchen, an exercise
room, a library/computer learning center, laundry facilities, and
a large courtyard with a barbecue area and a community
