HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02262013 - C.92RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and Authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the District Attorney's office, to execute a Purchase Order with Hansel Toyota for two new vehicles in amounts not to exceed $28,011.51 and $30,812.99; and a Purchase order with Albany Ford for one vehicle in an amount not to exceed $28,129.99. Two of these vehicles will be used for narcotics investigation activities and one will be used for Auto Insurance Fraud investigations. FISCAL IMPACT: The Auto Insurance Fraud vehicle is 100% grant funded; and the two general investigation vehicles will be funded 100% by the DA Forfeiture-Feb-DOJ Narcotics fund. No General Fund monies will be utilized in these purchases. BACKGROUND: To better address the volume of narcotic crimes in the County, the District Attorney's office has recently expanded the narcotics unit by assigning an additional Senior Inspector to this unit and the first vehicle purchased with the Narcotics fund will be utilized by that Sr. Inspector. The second vehicle purchased with the Narcotics fund is a specialized surveillance vehicle dedicated to narcotics investigations. The vehicle purchased with Auto Insurance Grant funds will be utilized by that Sr. Inspector. The Sr. Inspector positions lised above have filled by new employees, thus expanding the staffing level dedicated solely to investigating these types of crimes. Those Sr. Inspectors require vehicles to carry out the requirements of their jobs.
